Where to take breaks if anyone in the car is sensitive to altitude. The small figure is the difference from home elevation.
Altitude and pets
- Signs of altitude trouble in dogs: heavy panting at rest, lethargy, vomiting or refusing food, coughing, pale or bluish gums.
- If you see them, get lower. Keep going to the next valley instead of resting at a summit.
- Keep stops above your flag elevation short and calm. Offer water often, since mountain air is dry.
- Ask your vet before a big elevation change. This app is a planning aid, not veterinary advice.
